WIXII-ISM™ FROM ANGEL:

“I often think that I can do it myself quicker than trying to explain it to someone, but truly, my best time saver has been inviting others to help.”

ANGEL’S STORY:

Meet our featured Wixii™, Angel Tuccy.  She is 43 years old and mother to a 16 year old son and 20 year old twin daughters.  She received an Associate of Arts from the Community College of Aurora and has continued to study at the school of hard knocks to become a radio host of Denver’s longest running positive business talk show.  Her speech teacher in high school told her she would never have a career in radio because she was too timid behind the microphone.

ANGEL’S CAREER PATH:

Angel worked for the Professional Golf Association for 10 years before starting the company, Experience Pros with her co-host, Eric Reamer.  Experience Pros began as a consulting company to help companies retain current customers with extreme customer service.  Through presentations at the local Chamber of Commerce, Eric and Angel developed a unique presentation style that landed them a weekly internet podcast radio show.  Within a few months, KLZ radio execs offered Eric and Angel a 30-minute daily radio program.  They started in November 2009.  Since then, the Experience Pros Radio Show has grown into the 7th most popular talk show in Denver, been nominated for Best Mid-Day Show and Best Talk Show Team.  They were awarded 2nd place for 2013 Best Talk Show Team in Denver.

ANGEL’S MINDSET AND WORK-LIFE MIX:

Angel keeps busy and loves the challenge of her work-life mix.  She shares, “I think that I’m a better mom to my kids because I’ve followed my passion.  It’s not always easy and it’s not always fun, but I’m always proud of what I’m doing to feature local companies on the radio.  My kids know that, and they know that they can follow their dreams, too.”

Angel leaves the house after her kids leave for work and school, and most nights, they are all home together for dinner.  She turns off her phone and doesn’t check emails when she’s at home.  Angel puts in 10 -12 hours a day, but most of that time is networking and speaking to groups, so it’s not hard work.  It’s doing what she loves to do.

Family:  how do you build meaningful relationships with the people who matter most in your life?

The best thing I can offer to the people I care about the most is my time.  I talk to my parents every week.  I’m present for my kids when I’m at home.  We spend quality time together every day, and lots of time together on the weekends.  My husband and I go out every Sunday for a latte and grocery shopping.  It’s our date and we never miss it.  We get to spend 90 minutes uninterrupted talking to each to each other.  We also spend time time every morning talking to each other over a cup of coffee.  I spend a lot of time at work , but when I’m home, I’m home for them.

House:  how do you maintain order/status quo and/or how do you “manage it all” just a bit better?

I hired a housecleaning company years ago.  I do not want to spend my time off scrubbing toilets!  We also plan our weekly dinner menu and post it on the fridge so anyone can help get dinner started.

Please share your favorite efficiencies and timesavers.

Asking for help.  I often think that I can do it myself quicker than trying to explain it to someone, but truly, my best time saver has been inviting others to help.

At our home, we keep a weekly menu on the fridge, so anyone can get dinner started.  We use a shopping list and everyone pitches in, whether they need a new pack of pencils or a gallon of milk, it must go on the list.  If it’s not on the list, it doesn’t get purchased.  It’s a tough lesson in planning ahead, but the kids no longer come to me on a Tuesday night and say “Mom, I need this construction paper for tomorrow.”

I’ve outsourced to a housekeeping company, because I don’t want to spend my Saturday scrubbing toilets.  The family does upkeep all week long, and the floors still get scrubbed.

Each week, we review the calendar and plan for the things we can, like doing laundry, filling the car with gas, and getting cash from the bank.  Each day brings its own trials, so we minimize anxiety by taking care of the things we can in advance.

I keep an 18-pocket file for each child.  Each year, this is where I store report cards, school pictures, shot records, and projects we want to save.  It’s easy to go back and find what we’re looking for, and because the space is limited, it keeps me from hanging on to too many things.
