Building Routines to Take Charge of Your ScheduleWixii™ Tamara Myles shares, “I try to build routines into my schedule as much as possible, so that I can “attack” my week instead of constantly reacting to tasks that come up.  For my home life, that means that I put together my weekly menu on Sundays, grocery shop on Mondays, volunteer in the school on Thursdays and do laundry only on the weekends.

For work, I use Mondays as my administrative day, Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays for in-person appointments and coaching calls, and I make a point of writing every single day, even if only for 5 minutes.”

Some of our recently Featured Wixiis™ have shared that their favorite efficiencies and timesavers focus building strong routines into their schedule, particularly around repeatable tasks.  Their shared practices have inspired me to focus a little more intentionally on certain task that I used to just fit in when I could.  For example, rather than waiting until the dishwasher was completely filled to the max before running (and finding that certain dishes were dirty when I needed them), I have started running the dishwasher each night then unloading it first thing in the morning.  I have also started doing a load of laundry each night then drying it before bed and folding it the next day (whenever I can fit it in).  These small tweaks have made a big difference in reducing the overall stress and apathy that I feel toward certain mundane daily maintenance tasks.
