Give Me Gratitude“Every generation laughs at the old fashions, but follows religiously the new.”  – Thoreau.  In a recent post on MomasteryGlennon Doyle Melton challenges: “So why not just laugh now?”

I concede, I, too, can be guilty of being caught up in the race for the new and different, thereby losing sight of all that is right in front of me. Inherently, I know that “new and different” is not better, nor will it bring more happiness. So, why do I charge forward, at times, leaving what was good in the past?  When I stop to feel gratitude for all I have and not worry about the new, contentment abounds.

I found this post to be truly perspective gaining. Perhaps, you will too, and we each can take to heart, Thoreau’s Walden: “I say beware of all enterprises that require new clothes and not a new wearer of the clothes.” Walden reminds us to look through new eyes, not just at new things.  Do you agree?  Email me at Nicole@womeninthemix.com.
