Christine Justino

Name: Christine Justino

Location: Colorado

Company:  Keller Williams Real Estate, LLC

Professional Industry:  Residential Real Estate

Job Title: Broker

WIXII-ISM™ FROM CHRISTINE:

“I would advise “younger me” to spend the time in my 20’s or 30’s to discover a good mix of career and professional reward based on recognition and compensation.  To be compensated well early in life, vs. later in life, would have enabled me to downshift now in my 50’s.  Instead, my 50’s will be spent working hard to earn the rewards (money) that I chose to forego in my 20’s, 30’s and 40’s.”

CHRISTINE’S STORY:

Meet our featured Wixii™, Christine Justino.  She is 50 years old and mother to 18 and 14 year old daughters.  She holds a BA degree in Communications.  Currently, Christine is a broker associate in the residential real estate industry.  Christine grew up in Hawaii and moved to Colorado in 1989 for an exciting job as a flight attendant with a major airline.  Christine re-discovered knitting as a great way to unwind and de-stress as well as taking guitar lessons once a week.

CHRISTINE’S CAREER PATH:

I wanted to see the world immediately after graduating from college in 1988, so I took a job as a flight attendant with a major airline and found myself in beautiful Colorado!  After many years I decided to leave the airline industry to get married and have a family.  I spent 8 years as a stay-at-home mom and after my youngest child entered full-time school, I immersed myself in the world of real estate – first as a real estate investor, then as a licensed agent.  I’ve been a Broker Associate with Keller Williams Realty since 2006 and have steadily built my real estate business.  In 2013, I will be among the top 10% of high-grossing agents in my office with a sales volume of over $7 million.

CHRISTINE’S MINDSET AND WORK-LIFE MIX:

My success in business is a combination of tireless hard work, an optimistic “can do” attitude and old-fashioned tenacity!  I suffer from a touch of perfectionism, and I constantly strive to break that habit in both big and small ways. I’m a planner in a big way, but I also pride myself in being spontaneous, and admittedly, a little impulsive!

Here’s a snapshot of my daily work-life mix: – wake at 5:00am to straighten, organize and tend to the family (kids wake up at 5:30 for school) – to the gym at 6:30am with my workout buddy – to the office between 8:30 and 9:00.  I split my time between my home office and an office at Keller Williams – quitting time at the office is typically before 3:00 so I can be home when the kids arrive from school. This doesn’t always happen, but it’s a goal I hit most of the time.  From 4:00 through 6:00: carpool time!  2-3x per week – 6:00 to 7:00 is family dinnertime.  We’ll cook & clean together 2-3x per week.  Many nights we’ll eat out.

How does your current mindset/attitude empower and/or frustrate your ability to thrive in your work-life mix?  How has your mindset/attitude toward life changed over time?

My mindset empowers my career because I love my work!  I choose to approach work with a “servant’s mindset” and with a “servant’s heart.”  Top-notch service is what sets my business apart.  I have seen my attitude change over the years from regarding my job as a past-time to pay the bills, to more of a calling.

Please share specific tips for effectively managing your time and schedule.

I’ve requested that my husband & daughters each take one night a week to prepare a meal.  I also block out 1-2 hours in the early morning for me time:  exercise with a buddy, stretching or walking on my own, occasional meditating & journaling.

Please share your favorite efficiencies and timesavers.

Time blocking is an effective strategy.  I also have boundaries regarding my work hours.  In the event I have to work on the weekend, I make sure to take a window of time off during the week to re-charge.

If you could change one thing about your work-life mix, what would it be?

I would change the household finances management, arrangement, & dynamic so that my husband takes more responsibility.

What do you currently find most challenging/concerning about your work-life mix?  What areas do you most needs support?

I’m most concerned about achieving optimum health in three key areas:  physical, emotional & mental.  I set big goals for myself in business, but none of it can be achieved without overall optimal health and balance.
